Before, I said I don’t get why Mal receives so much hate. However, now the plot has higher stakes, involving political intrigue and an epic battle, and I am for it. Processed with VSCO with kc25 presetIf I was in Alina’s place, I’d go for Nikolai.

I want to be the kind of girl that falls in love with the bad guys, but I get angry when innocent people get hurt. That being said, I still cannot stand the romance. I suppose I can’t be the badass, then. I honestly don’t know why she keeps going back to him again and again.
It all still feels loosely connected but I trust Bardugo to take care of that in the final installment of the trilogy. The first half of Siege and Storm was slow-going, particularly before we meet Nikolai. Alina, annoying as she is, is going through so much and I can feel a stroke of sympathy for her when Mal demand her to care for his fragile ego, too.
