While that is true, I would say some basic knowledge is really helpful in categorizing, keeping track and understanding quicker the different scenarios, abilities, cards etc. But, well, two people walked away before they could even finish reading their instruction booklets and the third family member valiantly tried to stay for my sake (I love board games so much. Having octagons and hexagons be two different icons was a choice that lead to some confusion. ) but this didn't even come close to being a new favorite lol.
OK
)And it's a FANTASTIC collector's piece for a Star Wars fan. There is a detailed pamphlet for each villain describing how to set up their unique cards, and what their mission is to win. I will say, I know kids are way swifter these days than they were back in my era (I'm 37), but I still think this would be a bit much for a 10-year-old. Pro tip!

He tried to play on a team with someone to help with reading, but was bored and left partway through the game. Everything is nicely organized and labeled to help keep track of the detailed game. This review is for Villinous Star Wars EditionI’ve never played any Villainous game, so first I’d like to say that going on youtube and looking up how to play was VERY helpful. just from reading the rulebooks (does anyone else read board game rulebooks for relaxation/calming?

The rules could have been presented more clearly, we got it eventually but it took over an hour to learn how to play. !

It's excruciatingly long at higher player counts, I personally wouldn't play with more than 3 players. My 8 year old has no problem playing with us, but you do need to be a strong reader to play. The rounds progress quickly and it's perfectly playable with only 2 people (and also takes up much less room than a lot of other board games). The cards are full of details and beautiful paintings of classic characters (it was like getting five thick packets of trading cards!
The decks are very appropriate and different for each character. ?
