Its quite thin but not so thin it tears. I've watched it once a snail trying to pass on it, but renounced; so it seems that the copper tape does the job! The copper does lose its lustre after a few rain showers (see photo) so I imagine it will need replacing every few months. I use this tap to shield the electronics within the pick up of Des Acetek Guitars.

A noticeable difference with a lot fewer plant leaves being eaten etc. I had recently been invaded nightly by slugs in my kitchen. I installed the copper tape around the edge of the top of the vents and the slug invasion stopped straight away and I have now been slug free for a week! Does the job!
