Louis Althusser is remembered today as the scourge of humanist Marxism, but that was his later incarnation, an identity formed by years grappling with the intellectual inheritance of Hegel and Catholicism. Dr Lyubomir Pozharliev, historian of infrastructure and technology, is a Research Associate and Postdoc at the Department of Eastern European History at Justus-Liebig University Giessen.
