Got this to use as LTE+ Modem with my exiting Peplink Balance20X Router, which only has a CAT4 LTE modem, the ZTE MF286D used together with an external antenna I am getting 180mbits down and 27 bits up, Using with a Smarty 4G simcard unlimited data for £16 per month. I bought the Three-branded version of this in early January 2024. There's a lot of information on this router over in the ISPReview forums (most of it a bit beyond me) but someone there said that he'd bought three supposedly Three-locked modems and none of them actually were locked.

It worked straight out the box with no setup. Super happy with results. I therefore decided to check mine and put a RWG Mobile (EE) SIM in it.

Recommended for the price as it's the only CAT12 router under £100. Took a couple of mins to add a new APN profile.

It's possible that the ability to edit the APN and DNS settings wasn't available in earlier versions of the firmware but it certainly seems to be unlocked now. However, I think that may be down to the bands that are available (or not) on my local rural cell tower.

I'm defiantly enjoying 4G+. I haven't so far found any way to save my configuration changes, so I've made careful notes in case I ever have to reset it. If you're logging in via your mobile you don't have many options on the GUI.
