I can highly recommend this product :) The chippie that installed our new pergola and decking said that one thing he would not compromise on is the quality of the deck oil he personally used and he uses Ronseal. I have now been buying Ronseal Decking Oil for at least Ten years and to be honest I wouldn’t buy any other make and here are the reasons why.

Its a lot thicker than the standard stuff and does seem more premium. Each can suggests 20sq M coverage with 2 coats for grooved boards (24 sq M for smooth), so I ordered another (shame I could not find this info when ordering the first time), but the delivery was so fast I'm still on can one.

We would definitely recommend. Bad points - I know I should have done my research and I’m not blaming the product but the instructions say you have to put two coats on, this is not really made obvious in the advert and is in the small print on the back of the can, I wonder how many other people have been caught out with this? Our deck has been down 6 years and never treated.

Recently started using a few more products from Ronseal and I’ve got to say the stuff is just fantastic! Hopefully we can now enjoy our deck with just a light annual clean for another 6 years!

So I just use a brush, it takes longer but also I find it saves a lot of it. I also used the Ronseal clean and revive decking cleaner before the oiling and again another great product that is worth purchasing before you start painting.

I wanted oil, not just a paint, which in my experience starts to peel after a couple of years. The price on Amazon was just over half that charged by leading DIY stores so buying from them was a no-brainer.

Can't comment on the durability yet of course, but happy on all other fronts. I read one review saying that when the oil was laid, it was still tacky after 4 hours and yes I do agree with that, for me with high fences around my garden with little wind getting to the decking which helps it dry faster in my opinion, It would take at least 8hrs to dry completely. I read a detailed review but another customer and went along with his recommendation and am so pleased I purchased this oil. I just hope i don't need to until next year.
