I did not use the enclosed hook, as I prefer an ergonomic one, so cut it down and made a wand for Harry, and glued this to his hand (my granddaughter, for whom I was making these, is 10, so safety not an issue). Maybe others out there have access to a bigger selection than I do but I am a bit disappointed that the rest of my characters aren't really going to match. I loved the detail of Harry Potter's wand crochet, version “Prisoner of Azkaban” onwards. As others have said, the yarn it comes with isn't the greatest of quality so it can be hard to work with at times however I didn't feel like it affected the outcome.

I didn't like it very much for knitting, though. So much thought and detail has gone into them. The talking hat was quite a challenge, to ensure the right expression.
