My Schiit Magni and headphones can be seen in the photo. The detail in both the top and bottom end is stellar. I know that may not sound like a short amount of time but the pads for them are rather pricey compared to Brainwavz pads so that's another thing to take into account although the reason for the faux leather on the Customs is due to being isolated whereas the DT 990's are open back and benefit from velour ear-pads.

My first impression of these headphones was, “Wow, how are these only £100ish”. They sound very quiet otherwise.

For the price, I was really blown away. Talking Music Production, and this is just one example - I found processing reverbs with rich airy “shimmering” content, sounded amazing and crystal clear, the stereo image is incredible and you can easily tell when you’re over compensating mix down and sound design effects. That's not to say that these lack Bass, because that's far from the case! As the title states, i am means considering my self as a an Audiophile, i do have quite the hearing ( used to play in a band) but this headset just ticks all the boxes.

They are quite difficult to power, so if you're considering a pair of these you will also want to factor into account the need for a headphone amplifier. The sound stage is great and the are perfect for listening to music or gaming (I would recommend pairing with a good amp and DAC for best experience). Build Quality : German madeDAC/AMPS : i have an Asus Rog Maximus hero X comes with ROG SupremeFX 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC S1220 which can drive theses bad boys, as per the spec sheet, i am yet to give a long term use review but this is just my initial review ( compared to a one week use of the DT 770 pro 80 Ohm ( the isolation is just too much )if you are a gamer and looking to use them for music ( mp3) and movies, the motherboard Sound Chip is more than capable (if it is from latest Mobo that is ) , but if you are into high-end sound production and you want to use the headphones to their fullest , then an external solution maybe is good for you . My only 2 gripes with these headphones are: the coiled cable (it’s heavy and cumbersome) and that as you can see in the picture the ‘logo’ (as I’ll call it) is rubbing off and I’ve only had them a month.

I've been using these everyday for over 2 years now and I am very impressed. Overall a great headphone, and still made in Germany The bottom end is really responsive, maybe a little too responsive, but I’ve not had any issues with over doing it dramatically.

I use Adam A5X monitors combined with the Adam Sub8. Comfort : one of the most comfortable headphone out there,feel like a brand new winter Hat on your ears, it a bit tight at first ( i have big head) but leave it on it own box overnight and this should release the tension and you will get used to them. For the 100 pounds I paid for these, they're excellent.

To get the best out of them though you need and external DAC/AMP as your PC, mobile, tablet etc. I’d highly recommend you purchase the Magni too as - value for money - you can’t beat it but do some research and see what best suits you and your price range. Before getting this I used Sennheiser HD 280 Pro Closed Back Headphones and while they do sound great and true to sound after 1 hour it was getting uncomfortable, my ears would start feel sweaty and hot and I had to take 10-15 min breaks to be able to use it.
