The feeder plunger tool is very useful for small branches and hedge trimmings etc. Does exactly what it says on the tin! I am so happy I spent a little more and got the Bosch.

Easy to use, I'm a 63 year old female, not so brilliant with really thin single twigs (easier to put in lots at a time or bend them double) as it has to have something to get it's teeth into, but makes mincemeat of branches up to just over an inch, in fact the longer the better as it then takes it in itself almost. A jam doesn't take long to clear, just unplug it, clear the chute and get back on with the job. I personally wouldn't bother purchasing the Bosch collection bag since a cheap plastic garden trug, available from garden centres etc is perfect for collecting the shredded material.

My only very slight criticism would be that the exit chute at the bottom of the machine is only around 12 inches from the floor and so limits the size of box or bag collecting the clippings and you need to keep in mind to regularly keep it clear. It was more powerful than I expected for a cheaper model. I was a bit unsure about how good this product (or any other shredder) would actually be after reading reviews online but its been absolutely brilliant so far. I'm really happy with it so far and would recommend it.

Since I mix the shredded material with grass cuttings for composting I wanted a machine that makes fine rather than coarse shreddings. One thing to keep an eye on is the exit of the shredder and make sure the pile doesn't obstruct it as this will also lead to a jam. Definitely recommend getting this without a doubt. The machine performed well and took the branches (dry and moist) down to small bits which are ideal for composting.
