Sophie

A classic whodunit with charm and esprit, which thrives above all on situational comedy and the lovingly drawn characters. It is the funniest cosy-mystery I have read in a long time.

If you like the “Thursday Murder Club” series, this is the right place for you: Although the plot is located in the Loire Valley, the book could hardly be more British. And I can honestly say it had me in stitches, I was unwell when I was finishing the book and it cheered me right up, I loved the premise and the characters, and the dry British humour was right up my street. I 100% recommend! 📚 Book Review 📚#deathandcroissants#folletvalleymystery#booktour🌟🌟🌟🌟With hints of Agatha Christie, this book takes us on a mysterious trail of a missing guest from our main characters bed and breakfast residence.

I was lucky enough to be gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review over on my Instagram account. (His wife was quick to grasp the opportunity and returned to the UK where presumably she is now grasping other things. #bookblog #bookreadersofinstagram #bookcommunity #bookreview #bookaddict #bookworm #booksbooksbooks #nursesthatread #scottishreader #bookmail #bookgeek #bookreviewer #bookreviewersofinstagram #bookobsessed #scottishbookstagrammer #bookaholic #readerssupportingauthors #pageturners #booklife #bloggergirl #themagicofbooks #bookwormsunited #newreleasebooks #bookobsessed #bookishcommunity #bookaddicted #freebookreviews #fortheloveofliterature The book contains a combination of mystery and comedy which is a delight to read.

The Reading Room

Now fifty-three, Richard finds himself separated from his wife and managing their B&B in the Loire Valley alone. ’The plot centres on British B&B owner Richard.

It’s one of those reads that leave you gutted it’s finished but grateful it’s billing as ‘A Follet Valley Mystery’ implies there’s more to come. A film historian, whose anger at IMDB’s existence, is quelled by the simple life he leads in the Loire Valley running his business and watching classic movies. In a bid to revive his marriage, Richard Ainsworth suggested a more relaxed attitude to their marriage vows. Richard’s life becomes far less predictable thanks to the daring Valérie – 5 Stars‘Death and Croissants’ is fast, fun, packed with the truisms of life, old movie references, and rounded off with an utterly bizarre plot…I loved it!

So it’s all the more important to be part of the crowd that can say they read it ‘before it was on TV. It doesn’t take long, into this excellent read, for you to imagine Ian Moore’s mystery solving characters becoming part of our Sunday evening tv schedule. Valérie is a great character; she is attractive, dresses with all the flair of Audrey Hepburn, but it far more Kathryn Hepburn when it comes to chivvying Richard into action. The build up of the story is perfect and the characters and beautiful area in which the book is set in are described in a way that leaves you feeling you are living there with them.

) Although Richard’s penchant for a predictable life suits him, things become anything but following the disappearance of an elderly guest, and the arrival of Valérie d’Orçay. Things are soon thrown into disarray when a guest goes missing, one of his chickens is killed and a mystery woman comes into his life.
