BUT when I used about the 3rd time I noticed that it had creased/dented the door just below the hinge. Usable at the rear but not optimal. I too, was skeptical about purchasing this step for my Subaru Forester, since I had read about the damage people claimed it caused to their vehicles from the screws at the attachment point.

Can support both feet. Side note - on my vehicle at least (2016 Hyundai Tucson), the front door jamb is pretty vertical, while the back is at an angle. The screws holding the rubber pad on those older models are on the "pressure" side, so I can see how the screw caused issues.

Got this for the family's Honda Odyssey as we have a cargo box on top. As an example I had one large dog crate and one medium dog crate in my cargo basket and was easily able to get those in and out. A side note for Odyssey or presumably any owners of vehicles with sliding doors, and this is not an issue with the product, but you're gonna have to account for the fact that your sliding door will kind of get in the way but I can live with that it's really not a problem. On the model I received, the screws are on the bottom and cannot make contact with the door frame (see the photo I posted).

I also couldn't find any photos of this item on a Subaru Ascent, so I included one of the front and rear door frames. Amazing quality and design! !

Don’t hesitate if you’re thinking about buying this! I can fit both feet on the step, enough to feel sturdy. One of these days when I must reach the roof, I’ll hold my breath and give it a try.

It’s not the end of the world, may be more VW making weak point on car, but be prepared it may crease your doors! The pictures I saw look quite different from the item that I have. Snagged this bad boy on Amazon and was very pleased.
