If this is a stand alone story, I’m so glad I read it BUT it there were ever to be a second book, omg, i’m here for it! The four main characters within the story are Mina, Madeline, Daniel & Ciara. Oh my god this was so SCARY! Stranded without communication to the outside world refuge is found in a concrete bunker with other people to avoid ‘the watchers’Trapped and Afraid, the story is told from 4 different perspectives which makes the story even more compelling as it shows the strength and weaknesses of people who are trying to survive.

I loved the way the story developed with its twists and turns, it was one lurching thrill of terror after another. This forest is impenetrable and filled with strange noises yet no signs of life. Every car breaks down at the edge. This is a great book all the way through.

It was honestly hard to put down. I will definitely be reading more from this author. Then I told my daughter about the story and her immediate response was, ‘mum, let’s walk faster! ) made this one of the most enjoyable (and believable, gulp!

What an OUTSTANDING story! From the first few pages I was thrown headfirst into the story and as I kept reading my sense of fear deepened to the point where I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough and had butterflies in my stomach waiting to see what would happen next.

The vast space; how easy it is to become lost; what actually lurks in those cluster of trees. They haven't just happened upon the bunker at the same time either; each one arrived there in different years and months.

Very well written with an excellent plot. It's not often that I can say I liked all the characters within a book, but I actually did in this one; even Madeline, who at first just came across as cold hearted & nasty, but grew on me once it was obvious she was actually protecting the others.

Inside is a room with a wall of glass and a harsh electric light that switches on at dusk. But you can still hear their screams and sense their presence. The light keeps the Watchers away. The Watchers is set in an un-charted forest in Ireland; where cars break down at the tree line; where sunlight hardly breaks through the dense trees; where no fauna dare live.
