As the plot continues to unfold, there is a complete element of surprise as the final few chapters take place and there is nothing I can say without spoiling the outcome of the book as it is one that takes readers on a real journey of grief, relief, sadness, betrayal and a slight chance of hope. Whilst reading the alternating chapters it was always clear who’s POV (Point of View) we were reading from, as the chapters were headed with either ‘Anna’ or ‘Murray’. To read that these kind of things can happen to real people is pretty horrifying.

With Anna struggling to come to terms with the fact that her parents committed suicide, she begins to wonder if things are all what they seem and when a postcard slips through her post box, she immediately thinks that her parents were murdered and so, she does the one thing that any other person would do – she goes to the police. It was really quite shocking to find out in the authors note at the end that although Clare writes completely fiction stories that she has created in her mind, some aspects are based on her experience in the police force. This wasn’t the case in Let Me Lie.

Let Me Lie is a plot full of captivating chapters, ones in which will make you stay awake until the early hours but let me tell you this – it is worth it the tired eyes in the morning. ”Soon enough, Anna learns the difficult truth about the death of her parents (half in which I did predict) and she tries her upmost hardest to deal with it in the best way possible but it is never that simple when it comes to a crime book. Let Me Lie is written in alternating chapter’s between Protagonist Anna, who has lost both her parents to suicide, and retired officer Murray, who balances his life between front desk work and his adored wife who suffers severely with her mental heath. However there was a third person who squeezed themselves in between random chapters which kept completely throwing me off the scent.
