I’ve got a lot of juggling to do but will do some speed tests soon. So it's a DX517, wich is the common extension station for all disk stations since 2017 when it replaced the DX513, if I'm not mistaken. As I stated in my title, it does not power up along my ds, I have to power it up manually (with my combo RS814 "+" RX415 power up and down were synched). That is a great extension for the new 723+.

The expansion module then only contains the large NAS hard drives for everything that has to do with media (which also takes up the most space). Once attached to a supported NAS device for management, you go to that units web interface. And yes Synology is quite pricey, but for that you buy quality, previous synolgy nas has been running for 6 years and has only been replaced because it was too slow and is now used as offsite data volts All in all a solid product like Synology is used to

This expansion box was filled with 3 x 10TB Seagate NAS Drives and 2 x 16TB NAS Drives. in case of sudden power loss, if data is being written and cached on the disks and the DX517 shuts down abruptly, there could be data loss, or even the entire RAID volume could be crushed. The expansion also starts quite quickly - then the power requirement is 40-45 watts. 4 TB.

Plenty of cool YouTube vids to explain better for you. (The DS920+ nas is also new) And the price was/is compatible with the systems/setups. uk who supplied this via Amazon, for confirmation and they replied within a few hours in the affirmative which was great. This DS is still configuring the disks which I think will take about 20 hours.

After I move some data around, I'll add another 4TB and expect right at 11 total. It took literally five minutes to mount five 3. I connected it to my DS918+ using a very secure screwed eSATA cable - this short cable assumes you will site the DX517 extension bay next to the DS. Having migrated off an older NAS, I had hard drives laying around, so logically I needed this!

So far Volume to Volume tests seem really fast which is great, but not sure that will be the primary access use case. Set up the name, security all that and you are ready to rock. Nicely done there. The image is of the DX 517 adjacent to the DS.
