This allowed me to set up 3 partitions for the various tasks I wanted to perform. It's a comforting thought that not all external drives offer. Regardless of whether you are using as intended, or harvesting for another purpose, I have been running an HTPC for twelve years and have found the Seagate Barracudas to be incredibly reliable.

Having had a PC suddenly die I know first hand the importance of backups. 5 Inch SATA drive so is much smaller. I was so grateful then that I had external backups and could install all my data on new machine.

Even the drives running almost 24/7 have lasted for a minimum of 8 years. I have backed up about 1TB of data and all appears to be OK, so far very satisfied. Portability is another strong point. If you're looking for a portable hard drive that offers both performance and peace of mind, this is an excellent choice.

I have all the proper spudger/case tools, but I was not able to open the case without breaking a few case clips, but most of us don't keep the case after harvesting anyway. EXE" will walk you through the process of registering your hard drive with Seagate very easily. But even then, the Seagate drives usually hang on in for another two months, giving you plenty of time to order a shiny new one from Amazon. The real standout feature here is the 2-year Rescue Services.

Seamless connection to my Mac through an adaptor with its USB cable, at first I wasn’t able to copy files from my Mac to the SeaGate hard drive, did some research and learnt that you need to copy all the files from the drive to your Mac, go to utility disk and Erase the hard drive entirely, select “ExFAT” and complete the steps. It's incredibly lightweight and compact, easily fitting into my bag or pocket. I will review it again after using it for a month or two
