I've used the gold, nickel, and now the black ones on my various guitars, and all the finishes have held up. The next guitar I buy will have these as well.

While reading through guitar forums, I ran across several people that mentioned putting these Dunlop Straploks on their guitars. Boom goes the dynamite. The strap moving back and forth was making the nut come loose for the jack.

These are great, I put them on all my guitars. It depends on the instrumant strap and the strap hole size.

I bought these first for my acoustic because the strap button that was on the bottom is also the jack where you plug a cord in to use the pickups. Reason for a 4* : Was down tothe screw size. In order to just drill through the side of the body, you would have to add a support block in the inside so you have something to run the screw into. a lot!

The edges of the body are too thin to support this. In my opinion, that is a poor design. I had tried out a previous brand where you have a little U-shaped hook type of thing that you slide onto the strap button as you pull up on a tab, but those always tended to twist on me, so I found no real advantage, plus they were harder to use. I didn't want to go through all that so I went with the easier but just as effective method of putting them where there is already wood reinforcement.

Couldn't be happier! They have never failed on me, and I think they also look a little bit sleeker. By offsetting my hole that I had to drill a little, I was able to hit that piece of wood and it's very strong.

If you look at the photo you will find the screw size provided was ever so slighly smaller than the original screw fitted on a Les Paul. I attached pictures of these strap buttons on my acoustic as well as on my strat. The media could not be loaded.
