The contents of this book are no doubt of high quality and what i expect from Max Hastings. As I say: aside from finding the topic intrinsically fascinating, Max’s book is so well written, researched & presented that I haven’t really put it down since I received it.

Well. The pages are way too thick and bound so tight, that the book can't properly fold open when placed on an even surface. I have to say I’m always pleased with his books: he writes in such an engaging way, which although informative (sometimes exhaustive! As Churchill said: “Those who forget the past are condemned to relive it.

I had better reading experiences with previous books from this author. There are plenty of books already published & available on this subject but this (in my humble opinion) is by far the best - & I’m only half the way through! Do we ever learn?

As soon as I saw it advertised I ordered it & when it was published & delivered last week & got straight into it. .

This makes the actual handling of the book quite poor and not an easy reading experience. I hope for better physical quality for the next release!

I have read ‘All Hell Let Loose’ & ‘Vietnam’ (both by Max Hastings) in addition to some of his other books. However i was slightly disappointed by the physical quality of this book. ! One thing that’s been on my mind since receiving the book is the current situation we find ourselves in: the ‘West’ & Russia (again) at loggerheads!
