I also love that the sand itself is more dough like and sticks together so doesn’t get under your nails etc. This is a lot bigger than I thought it would be. It's designed as a treasure set where you gradually reveal tools and moulds and pearls and crystals hidden in the different colour sands.

As with all kinetic sand sets, the sands gradually merge colour over time, and the initial excitement of finding treasure can't be repeated to the same level next time you play. It was a large kit and lots of places to mould the sand and the colours are stunning both put seperatly and when mixed together: the moles are easy to clean afterwards and it all clips together which is perfect. Anyway,I like this one and I am happy to recommend this great little kit . On the packaging it states there are "6 Hidden Surprises" but then promptly tells you what these are on the back of the packaging.

It is made to look like a treasure chest where you gradually uncover tools, moulds, pearls, and gems concealed in the coloured sands. The reason I'm only giving it 4 stars is that 2 of the mermaids have ends that act as keys to unlock parts of the main plastic container, but it's too fiddly for a 3 year old to use them on their own - needed adult help. This Kinetic Sand Mermaid Crystal Playset is great fun.

Just My Thoughts

That is the only other thing to note if this is your first kinetic sand kit, once your child has mixed the sand, there is no going back. There is nothing better than good quality kinetic sand to have some fun . My almost 5 year old loved it! First you use the shell sticking out as a key to open the purple crystal up.
