It's sooooo cool! Rich in detailed information from countries, excellent graphic quality and paper quality is also very good. And they are much less crowded. This make the maps easier to read.
It's an atlas for those who love cartography. The front matter about climate and minerals, etc uses modern visualization techniques to make the information much easier to grasp. This has all of the good qualities on the 1981 atlas - the best collection of maps.
The 1981 atlas seems to fill all of the space with place names. I would think there would be less place names, but, in terms of pages of index - they are about the same 218 vs.
The 15th edition leaves the sparse areas sparse.
