The inside lining is very soft, and that lining is in the hand pockets also. However, apparently a pretty big deal to him is the zipper which is on the "female side". The hand pockets are lined with sort of a crushed velvet material; super warm. All the stitching and workmanship is good on it.

The zipper is tough and made of metal, not plastic. He likes that the collar doesn't have a flap and is very comfortable.

The vest is sized correctly ,it is extremely warm,and feels extremely durable ,you do not have to worry about it snagging and ripping easily at work. It has 2 internal pockets large enough for a cell phone or pack of cigarettes. This vest completely blocks the wind. This vest’s inside pocket has a button while Carhartt's vest like this doesn't have a button on the inside pocket.

It's a pretty bulky vest compared to the other one he owns and therefore warmer, but more restrictive of his movements. The inner pocket is fully enclosed with a button so nothing will fall out. I'm wearing a size XL in the photos. Overall, he would prefer the inside to be less soft and the zipper to start from the other side.
