Before buying I did a bit of research and the Focusrite Scarlett seemed to be the right choice. The 3rd generation scarlett pre-amp gives better gain and the new 'Air' option is a feather on its cap. 2.

It offers plenty of software\plugin options which I have not yet tried as I use my existing DAW. 5) and I'm happy with the audio quality. I've had no latency issues recording vocals or guitar. Pros:1. I bought Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 (3rd Gen) as an upgrade to my Audient iD14. Now there is substantial improvement in sound qualiry.

So all in all go for this its an excellent deal and device. I'm currently using it with a macbook. Am waiting to get a good vocal microphone and test the vocals which is spectacular. Good pre-amp in this price range.

It is a bit pricey at 38k. The installation and setup are simple and hassle-free, thanks to Focusrite's automated online tutorial 'Getting Started'. Web dialogue opens up and guides you through the process.

There's some decent bundled software which I found useful (plus you get additional software every couple of months). Plenty of Input options including MIDI and S/PDIF3.
