About this deal

What makes Michael Rosen most sad is thinking about his son, Eddie, who died. We all have 'sad stuff' to deal with in life. We aim to bring the wonderful world of children's books and illustration into your life with beautiful - and very special - gifts for children that have been carefully sourced and handpicked, and of course gifts for adults too. In this book he writes about his sadness, how it affects him, and some of the things he does to try to cope with it.

But I noticed I have some missing letters in this page…is that printing mistake or Michael Rosen try and put me in the sad mood? I chose Sad Book for our 'book of the month' (Jan 2016) and have sent 100+ copies to schools out of kindness via our #SadBookChallenge.

The story itself is a nice contemplation on sadness’s s what it’s like to be sad. Should I keep this book or go for return? The book fir our granddaughter who just lost her other grandmother looks lovely but I’m sad that the front cover is ripped. For those who have lost someone close, particularly if unexpectedly, the book is exactly as dark as we need.

It is not a story with a punchline or a plot. Grief is a dark place, and there is nothing wrong with that. It is a thought process that lets you feel and understand.

The book was bigger than I had expected (I did not read the dimensions) but I like the size. It allows for the illustrations to feel more real. Rosen's sad book is a tragically genuine and relatable resource for discussing topics such as sadness, grief or bereavement with children.

Bought new from Amz, and items arrived damaged. It is a book I will read again and again. Award Winning Author Michael Rosen's Sad Book is an exceptional resource for parents and educators. And the final page, with no text at all, speaks the most of the silence that accompanies loss.

/ The last bit means I don’t want to be here. It’s a mistake to try to make someone grieving “feel better”, or to suggest they appreciate their grief by making something good out of it. His poem on the page I photographed is: “Sad is a place / that is deep and dark / like the space under the bed / Sad is a place / that is high and light / like the sky above my head / When it’s deep and dark / I don’t dare go there / When it’s high and light / I want to be thin air. ”If you think this will be too dark: For those who haven’t faced this, you’re right.
