Kevin

Someone suggested if the Openreach modem I'm using is an ECI modem, it could be the cause of the problem. I was baffled why a seemingly inferior BT HH 5 outperforms the R7800. Set it as a ppoe pass through for my Mesh system and it delivered 80/20 mb connection (was 30/10 but found with this modem that i had a line fault using the modems diagnostics something that i didnt realise with previous modem) After reading customer reviews and doing some research, in a leap of faith I bought the DrayTek Vigor 130 modem.

I was caught between buying the less expensive Netgear DM200 (£33. To be fair, I see why the V130 could be called a PnP modem if using an ethernet cable connected from its LAN port to a PC's ethernet port, and then enter my broadband PPPoE details. 2 will do though . Just plug in the modem cable from your BT openreach line in box on the wall .
