I did some tests to see how it fares against some 'compatible' batteries as well as against original DeWalt 4Ah ones. I tested the batteries using my DeWalt DCV517N-XJ 18V Vacuum cleaner and was taking a note of the running time from the full charge until the full stop.

No warning or guarantee leaflets were inside the box too. It charges just fine and appears to have a correct capacity too. The results are:- This DeWalt 5Ah battery: 28 min- 'Compatible' 5Ah battery no.

It looks like the 5Ah DeWalt battery I received is genuine and performs well against the competition. Overall, I am happy with the fact that it has outperformed other batteries in my tests. I am very glad that I received a genuine DEWALT DCB184-XJ XR Lithium-Ion Battery, 5Ah, 18V exact match an item as my old one.
It did not have any marks or scratches but the packaging looks very basic and the battery was just sitting in the box without any bag or wrap. 1: 22 min- Original DeWalt 4Ah battery no. I do not know if this battery was brand new or not when I received it.
