Also of note is that the screws - one set (I can't remember if it was the left or right handed one) came with brass screws, whereas the other came with nickel screws, which I thought was a bit rubbish! I installed mine at the top of the window and I feel calm now that my autistic son will not manage to fall out. These are easy enough to figure out how to install. Make sure you get the correct side lock for your window, just use the diagram on the sale page.

It's quite tricky and I think it will make it more difficult, I used a ladder and it was still a bit fiddly. . All in all I do really like - a very very tidy way to child-proof your windows, and I don't think the installation was excessively fiddly (I think some fiddling is to be expected), but I'll mark down a star due to the screws and lack of instructions.

If you have some double-sided sticky tape to temporarily mount the arm and pin that would be great as it would let you test closing it too. I ended up using the brass screws for the arms fitted to the casement, as you can't see them, and used the nickel ones for the pins which you do see. The media could not be loaded.

Also for safety I put the opening on the actual window so it is less visible. I did have a bit of an issue getting the bases of the pins to sit in the window frame - you'll notice that one of the images I've uploaded shows the base of the pin to have some slight damage - this is from having to use a screwdriver and a bit of hammering to get it in, and you might also notice a (admittedly very tiny) amount of deflection in the plastic frame, this is because the base of the pin was ever so slightly too large for the euro groove in the frame, and as such it got deflected a bit. A good bit of advice would be to do a dummy run on a downstairs window because then it's less stressful to figure out all the alignment. I recommend a strong duct tape to initially stick the latch in place to get the right location rather than drilling away (measure twice cut once etc etc).

But there are NO instructions or any indication which latch is left or right. However for children safety I would not install them on the bottom of the window as all the child has to do is push it down at a certain spot and the window will open.

When checking YouTube for helpful videos people have attached these to their windows differently to the picture shown with these latches on Amazon. I've attached some pics which I hope help. It's bad enough being in isolation, then my husband ordered these latches for us to put on our bedroom window to stop our cat from getting out, be prepared to have your patience tried, to feel like crying, giving up and maybe wishing the cat was dead. As noted in one of the images, I had to put a small bit of a plastic in order to move the arm down a bit as it was contacting the pin at the top bit (the part like a mushroom) and wasn't closing well, I just used a bit of plastic trunking to do this, and I fitted it to the casement part purely because it makes it less visible.
