And the same can be said of his first novel, Diary of a Somebody. Rarely do I laugh out loud when reading a book. The best and most original book I have read for a long time.
A beautifully written story, peppered with poems that enhance and advance the story, rather than distract. Each page had me chuckling, giggling and guffawing. Liberally sprinkled with custard creams, Wittgenstein and book clubs, it is a wonderful, beautiful book.
They are humorous, clever, witty, nuanced, thought-provoking, challenging, fresh and original. His poems appear with a reassuring regularity. The poetry of Brian Bilston has captivated his ever loyal Twitter followers.
