We bought this for our 4-year old son, however his 8–year old sister loves to listen-in or read it to him (with much passion! not great for an aspiring dragon. ). Instead, she bravely asserts her independence and determination to pursue her passion for helping others.

As the story unfolds, Princess Pearl finds herself grappling with societal expectations and the confines of her princess identity. Item came in perfect condition, excited to read it to my little boy . Great Julia Davidson book again, told through enchanting, whimsical rhymes and excellent colourful illustrations.

When her uncle, the King, insists that princesses cannot be doctors, Pearl refuses to accept such limitations. Through Princess Pearl's journey, we are reminded of the importance of staying true to oneself and following one's dreams, no matter the obstacles. Oh dear what a situation.

While Zog handles the flying, it's Princess Pearl who truly shines in this subversive tale. From the unicorn with an extra horn, to the sunburnt mermaid each character they encounter on their journey adds depth and richness to the narrative.
