This calendar is filled with large rocks rather than the pretty polished gems you get normally. It’s a nicely boxed advent calendar with 24 doors, behind each of which is a polished pebble. The crystals my son has look different to these and not as simple in shape.

I liked that they weren't all just round pebble shaped but some cubes. I think this would make a suitable gift for a child who likes crystals. It would make a nice gift for someone to open over the Christmas period. Good sized and quality looking crystals for each day.

If you are a stones/crystal expert, then you may find this set good, I really do like the idea, far more interesting than just little chocolates, but wish the identification was clearer. There is a small picture of Santa on his sleigh with the words “good luck” printed on the box, which is itself purple. ). The box is recyclable cardboard, so that is good.

There is a chart enclosed, listing the stones with an image of each and some details about them, but this is more about ‘meanings’ than their scientific composition or geographical origins, but as they are all named on the chart, children can look up the stones and do their own research about any aspects they are curious about. But for a stocking filler for a kid, sure, it would keep them interested, I think.

Such good value for money, my 23 year old boyfriend really enjoyed it! I'm 38 and love shiny things and I completely got in on the fun too, and learned a few things. The doors are not the easiest to open especially the further you get into it as the bits between are not stuck down but will open with care. Whether it would satisfy an older collector of crystals, I am not so sure.

Several pictures on the chart look almost identical, particularly the red/pink ones. They can then do their research and we can try to find examples of the other stones if they choose.

She loved the ones that had volcano or lava descriptions. I like the idea of this advent calendar. She has them all in her treasure chest and calls it her pirate gold. Door number one contains a deep violet stone.
