I'm from America, and I've has some trouble with Mary Berry's books. This cookbook has all the others beat by a mile. Success every time! 🍰
I made it with raspberries, raspberry jam, & whipped cream, which I know is traditional. My husband is a huge fan of the Swiss Roll. Yum!
Richard uses plain flour with the baking powder, and everything comes out beautifully. I believe that our self rising flour must have more baking powder than the British, but by leaving out the baking powder, I don't get quite the rise I'd like or expect. Or the Apple and Cinnamon Chelsea Buns.
If I go by the recipes, they sink every time and look like Yorkshire Puddings. I think I'll try the Pineapple Upside-Down Cake next - or the Jamaican Ginger Cake.
