I've made sure they're very secure and it doesn't pop off. They sharpen fine with the supplied sharpener.

The plastic caps stop the user from chewing and biting the wooden ends of the pencil. The leads are soft which means they do break easily - no doubt ably assisted by the heavy handling of postal delivery!

A perfect set of pencils for little ones. There are better jumbo-hole, safety sharpeners on the market, but it is better than nothing if new to this sized diameter pencil.
