I tried to upload a video of the kettle boiling so you can hear how quiet it is, but it wouldn't upload. It boils quickly and if needed small quantity of water for 1 cup of tea only.

It is! So I decided to have a go at Russell Hobbs Luna kettle, which is far more affordable than any the others we found. Much quieter than my previous premium brand - though apparently this requires regular descaling to maintain .

£46 paid (supposedly heavily discounted), which is above average for this style and brand, but very pleased with the smart design - the dark chrome looks great, offset by full chrome accents. . so I'm slightly nervous the bottom elements might attract scale more than a flat bottom design.
