On the flip side the Zenbook has a very slight 'grain' texture (the touchscreen digitiser) so the Vivobook looks slightly 'cleaner' on a bright white image. The keyboard is backlit – not RGB. It all comes down to where you buy this laptop from as to whether you get those extras.

2 SSD (2280 form factor), PCIe Gen 4. The 32GB of LPDDR5 RAM runs in eight channels and is fast – very fast. The My ASUS app is crucial for getting the best out of this laptop, whilst keeping you up to date and doesn’t get in the way of anything. Meteor Lake uses tiles of various functions arranged to give you a lot of bang for your buck.

Yes, Gen 4, so you can get fast reads and writes from it. The MyASUS utility pre-installed offers a lot of customisations and options (including being able to limit battery charging to 80% to aid battery longevity) as well as tons of options for the display, fan profiles etc.

Fairly common design I have to say, but it takes a hard press to toggle the power switch, so an accidental glance won’t shut you down. The two full function Thunderbolt 4 ports are a boon, and can be used with various docks out on the market. But that’s fine.

I’d advise putting the Intel Driver & Support Assistant on to keep you up to date with Intel’s drivers – Windows does a fine job, but going direct to Intel means you get the latest drivers as they come out. But it’s not going to be upgradable in the future.

The inital attraction to this laptop was the large 16:10 OLED display and boy it delivers! I can get 5,000MBs reads from it which is faster than Gen 3, but not the full speed of Gen 4 (7,500MBs).
