Really great book. I can't explain it, but the story, prose and art fit so well with each other.
The illustrations didn't seem as great, they were really dark. With context, the art is fantastic. A part of me was hoping that it would have a twist like The Sleeper and the Spindle did, but I'm perfectly happy with it as it is. I got the book after reading The Sleeper and the Spindle and when I got it, I wasn't impressed at first.
It's quite similar to the Grimm brothers version, meaning it retains it's darkness. But as I started reading, I realized it was really good. The story itself, we've heard before. There's a haunting quality ti it and the illustrations suit it very well.
