Wasn't sure about getting an all 3 books in one volume but it's not too heavy and pages are good quality and the design is brilliant. Listened to the audiobooks last year(Rob Englis def recommend it) and wanted to buy a nicely designed version to read the story again. On the insides you get two maps - one of Middle-Earth, one of Rohan and Condor. There are two flap covers - one briefly tells the story of the ring, the other one tells us a little bit about Tolkien.

There's a tonne of extras including some maps of Middle Earth and Mordor, a fantastic "Kings Letter" from the rejected epilogue for the book and some pages from the Book of Mazarbul. The illustrations have a contents page, making it easy to find Tolkien’s artwork, which really is the focal point of this book.

The book itself is beautiful, but the plastic cover is low quality and it was damaged Great book but the display cover was scuffed and damaged and had holes in it.

However, I am a right sucker for leather bound books and this one is a right beauty. As a package, you can see why this is a little expensive. It was a lot of money to pay and have it arrive damaged.

The extra maps drawn by Christopher Tolkien are a wonderful inclusion, you are able to remove them from the book so you don’t have to flick back to the page, you can follow them while reading, and of course they are, again, beautiful. I would think with that, it would be safe to assume that most people who are buying this lovely expensive copy have already read the book and own a copy (or a few). Def recommended for Tolkien fans who want to read the books again.

The book itself is equally stunning, the elvish lettering on the page ends is sublime, everybody knows how good the book is - it now has packaging worthy of the books greatness. The quality of the book is very good, although The pages are really thin.
