⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Yeonmi gives us a first-hand account from the dark side of human nature. 'The parents' trials and tribulations, the heartless authorities, the mother's ultimate sacrifice, the girl's grit under the grim circumstances come to the fore in a hard-hitting yet unselfconscious style and that is a triumph of the girl as an author.

Yeonmi has traveled a very dark road to bring us a message. I have more gratitude than ever to live in such a wonderful part of the world where people actually have rights. !

Her story has made me appreciate the smallest of things in my own life, and have re-centered my values. What horrors did our forefathers try to save us from? I'm often disappointed in hyped up books but this was good.

For an Asian girl it's difficult to confront or speak up about disgraceful experiences. After reading "Nothing to Envy" by Barbara Demick- I became even more intrigued by the country of North Korea and I felt drawn to Yeonmi's story because I wanted to know more.
