This book is good; not just good but very good indeed and very helpful. This is such an excellent book and I love how Dr Soph calls it a Manual For Being Human. Wonderful to hear a doctor being so ‘hands on’ with the subjects,very liberating if like me you had a very restrictive childhood.

There are no quick fixes to enduring psychological problems but there are ways of helping you to understand yourself better in bite size chunks. It really is. It is for anyone who is seeking self reflection, understanding and ultimately change. Her clear and reassuring voice has translated confidently into book form, with complex issues boiled down into straightforward and encouraging advice.

It’s going on my recommendation list. This book does that. It cleverly combines rigorous academic knowledge, with neuroscience and the complexity of psychology in a totally relatable and digestible way. Reading this book, Dr Soph feels more like a good friend than a therapist- the sort of friend who’s worth listening to.
