) The food is classic English cuisine (old favourites like shepherds pie but with a twist to make it fancier) but includes pasta dishes, plus there's a good selection of fish, vegetarian dishes, puddings and sides, including salads. Think of what you would hope for in a Mary Berry recipe book-this is exactly it.

The recipes are divided into,Party bites, first course, main courses whether meat fish or vegetarian, puddings, and tea for a crowd. The food itself looks gorgeous-it's very well photographed and the book has a matt finish to it (careful cooking near it as splashes are unlikely to wipe off! I can see myself using this for years.

I have added a photo of the names of the chapters plus some pages with recipes. This book also has a ribbon page marker which I always like.

We have one of her how-to-do-everything-type cook books and it is fabulous. A small sample of the recipes are:Duck and Hoisin spring rollsSweetcorn and feta frittersA selection of tart-letsPateVarious soupsChicken leek and mushroom pieChicken Tikka MarsalaMini chicken burgersFillet steak and mushroom sauceMarinated marmalade and whisky lamb fillet.

It focuses on entertaining for large groups and each recipe has a version for 6 people and a version for 12 people. It is also beautifully laid out. It has handy chapters in the beginning on Equipment and serving, as well as a fab "cheats and shorcuts" chapter full of great tips. The 6 person recipes will be great for batch cooking too.

Whether you are having a more formal or casual dinner party there should be a recipe to suit and of course for any special occasion , week day or week end get together. At the beginning of the book there are sections on the right equipment, serving the right amount, cheats and short cuts, planning and preparing, and then on the day. A colourful hard backed book with over 160 recipes, a lot more than the average book. Everything is thoroughly flop proof.
