Ok, the plot and characters are a little contrived here and there but it’s original and refreshing. I enjoyed this book on so many levels. It didn’t disappoint.

The excessive scene-setting, though well done, might have contributed to this feeling. The characters, the plot, the humour, the wit, the detail, I can picture it all. A breath of fresh air and something quite different from anything I have read before.

I finished it only 3 days into my holiday and was actually gutted! Spent the day reading this in the sunshine, it’s brilliant, I don’t want it to end! He was a bit dubious at first (‘isn’t it a girly book’) but only a few pages in I knew he liked it 😉Can’t wait for the next book to come out.

Nonetheless, I wholeheartedly recommend 23, especially if you reside in the UK. This summer’s read . Additionally, the ending buildup was somewhat slow and then rushed in the final few chapters, which left me wishing for a more balanced pacing.
