When I tasted it I thought it had an almost medicinal flavor, with an herbal spice aftertaste. I found it to be very smooth, more so than our normal whiskey choices. At least, it didn't leave me as breathless as other whiskey does. Described as aged in sherry & bourbon casks to give this distinct smokiness.

However, even though I am more of a wine or cocktail person, I decided to at least sample this one, just out of curiosity. I'm not a whiskey drinker, but my husband and father-in-law are. Very nice gift for whiskey drinkers, and is sure to impress.
My husband thought it had a nice strength, and tasted best chilled and smooth. He normally mixes with Diet Coke, but drank this one with ice and/or water. No caramel colouring and blended to provide a consistent flavour.
I bit stronger than normal UK spirits which are often 37. 5% ABV (alcohol by volume) this Isle of Islay is 46% ABV but despite it being a bit stronger it is not at all harsh. A very nice sipping whisky with a hint of smoke.
