The cover has a satin finish with spot glossy highlights. From a hands-on experience this book is lovely and tactile, with a clean design. I don't have the consistent attention or motivation for traditional cooking, I'll be quite frank and say that I like the short sharp double page spread recipes that are laid out like this for ease of following and quick reference, without the flowery flamboyance of those who enjoy the theatre of cooking (which I don't) so the value to me is getting new ideas for ways to try combining more easily accessible ingredients into something with a bit more variety than I might ordinarily do when on auto pilot. And the underlying ethos - that eating well doesn’t have to cost the earth - is important.
