It's a thick book, but a real page turner so it never outstays it's welcome. They call on the services of the one of their nephews, who happens to be a down-on-his-luck horror writer ( Straub modelling on himself? ) to get to the bottom of it. A classic spooky novel I read back in my youth, was so tickled pink to find it again.
Thrill to the events as the old members of The Chowder society in the sleepy and snowy ( fictional) town of Millburn in upstate New York, must get to the bottom of a viscous entity that's killing them off one by one.
