He does address the issue of press intrusion and being constantly asked if he is in a relationship with his co-star Caitriona Balfe (he isn’t, he says they’re like brother and sister). I was also keen to know how he reacts to fans, because he comes across as quite a private man in some ways.

His honesty shines through here, he doesn’t try to make himself out to be a hero, he just explains what everything was like, including the times he felt like giving up on the walk. Managed to get through the whole review without mentioning how gorgeous he is…. During this walk, Sam had set 20 miles a day, he recorded hundreds of voice notes that has allowed him to write this book. Oops!

When I saw he had a book out, I was keen to read it. He again writes with honesty throughout and a real warmth. I first saw Sam Heughan when he turned up in Doctors in 2009, which I watched all the time back then.
