I really enjoy the thoroughness and ease of reading as well as the illustrations. The type of kids who love to learn about the world around them and/or love knowing a lot of facts about nature/animals will love this book. I bought this book for myself because I really enjoyed another book that described how trees communicate, feel and live socially with the entire forest.

The book is full of fun facts and information. There's no narrative or story (it's kind of like a junior pictorial encyclopedia), so you could open the book up to any page at any given time and get enjoyment out of it. A great book to introduce the concepts of life cycles, tree functions and conservation.

So did my 5 & 7-year old grandsons who ended up taking it home! I teach Year One and this book has provided so much information, discussion, and the importance of trees.

For those with an encyclopaedic quest for knowledge, the book lists, at the conclusion, a list of countries with a national tree. Younger kids could still enjoy paging through it for the pictures, or read a few pages at a time, depending on what in nature is interesting to them. Please eliminate this kind of avoidable mistake.
