Alongside the intensity of their relationship, the absolute possessiveness from Sol doesn’t go amiss, I am a sucker for the classic ‘shes mine’ line I will say. This man switches from gentle to primal and I loved every minute of it. 🖤The Phantom and his Muse 🖤I can not fathom how great this book was. It was like reading the most perfectly intense love letter, their development throughout was wonderfully done, having them both slowly grow and open up.

Along with plenty of tiny attributes to the original. The sheer amount of detail that goes into the building of this story is amazing, reading it makes you feel like you’re sat in the French quarter of New Orleans with these characters, it’s so immersive and packed full of all these small additional tidbits that set the scene and build on the image crafted so well.

Being a fan of not only the musical but also the classic that inspired all this, I was jolted by some of the spicy scenes, because I couldn’t fathom Gaston Leroux depicting The Opera Ghost treating the love of his life the way Sol treated his love interest. ✨ My thoughts:From the start, in the author’s note, I was moved by the fact that Greer Rivers was vulnerable with her mental health struggles and her bipolar diagnosis, and Greer shared her experiences through Scarlett. Overall, I enjoyed PHANTOM so much in the final quarter of the story, I couldn’t stop reading, even though my eyesight blurred from weariness. This book truly made me fall in love with reading again.

Some of the elements I enjoyed included: competing affections for Scarlett (by Sol Bordeaux and Rand Chatelain), fighting clans (which kind of reminded me of “Romeo and Juliet”), as well as character and scene details. The media could not be loaded. It’s not unexpected as y’all know how much I absolutely adore Greers books but this one was like reading a beautifully crafted poem from start to finish I’m actually obsessed with it.

Sol and Scarlett’s relationship was such a beautifully written piece. We’re fed the perfect amount of tiny pieces of the wider story as it progresses right up until it all fits together at the end keeping you intrigued and eager to find out more all the time. It often feels like your in these characters heads watching the way their minds work and how they get to the decisions they make, Sol and Scarlett are no different and will 100% be characters that stick with me, they’re so memorable. The problem is, while her mind plays tricks on her, she’s also in the middle of two powerful, feuding families: the Bordeauxs and the Chatelains.

I love it, but I wish it was a lot more to the story Scarlett’s journey with bipolar and how that has been represented was so insightful and I think you can see the depth and how meaningful that story line was to write within Greers work. If you like dark, romantic, steamy books, you MUST read this. If you’re in the mood for a dark, modern day phantom of the opera retelling with beautifully complicated characters, a world stopping love story and beautifully detailed story telling laced with mafia vibes, this one’s for you, yet another 5 star masterpiece.
