Instead of just studying history, let's think about HerStory too! It’s time for herstory—a celebration of not only what girls can do, but the remarkable things women have already accomplished, even when others tried to stop them. Black Icons in Herstory features colorfully illustrated portraits and inspiring biographies of 50 of the most admired women in the fields of music, film, literature, politics, human rights, and more. Throughout history, girls have often been discussed in terms of what they couldn’t or shouldn’t do. Some of these figures are very well known; others have been forgotten by most, which is why we need this book to bring them back in the spotlight. One of The Guardian's Best New Children's Books for Summer 2018. A celebration of some known and lesser known artists in the 'herstory' of the art world to help encourage new generations of creativity and equality!

However I've updated my review to 4 stars as Amazon dealt with this straight away. The inside the book is well illustrated and presented for children. This is a fantastic book. I got this book as a present for my niece and unfortunately it arrived with a ripped cover.

What a fantastic book! Great layout and illustrations, very interesting! I bought this as a gift for my daughters 9th birthday but I’m going to have a read before I wrap it. Bigger than I expected and full of brilliant information.
