I also enjoyed learning about the magical creatures and the paragons. And of course in every story there is a villain . In addition to the misfit-in-a-new-school storyline there’s also the mystery of the disappearing teacher to be solved as Ella tries to clear her name and find her place in Arcanum.

However, The Marvellers stands on its own, partly by well representing a variety of cultures and black and brown characters (something HP is often criticised for lacking). It this book her name is Gia Trivelino and she wants a revenge. I really enjoyed this book too altho I'm in my 30s . It’s the first book I’ve read by Dhonielle Clayton, and from what I see it’s a bit of change from her usual style (modern fairy tales) but after reading the Marvellers I will definitely go on to reading more from her.

I hope that there will be a sequel and it is well underway as I’m not sure how I can wait til it is published! The pride around Jollof Rice and other dishes.

I like the main character and the friends she made . I knew when I read the first chapter in the First Look that I will need to finish this book very soon. It’s really hard to read a book written for older children / tweens where a school for magic kids starts accepting non-magic kids and not think of HP… of course there will be comparisons.

If you like magic and mystery then this book is for you . It seemed so well researched as well. I can’t help but notice all the food in magical world seemed so tasty, scrumptious, it makes me want to be in it and eat to my heart’s content. He really enjoyed the storyline and couldn't wait to find out what happens next .

He really enjoyed it and asks to re-read it again . The chapters are relatively short and the right length for the target readers.
