The football side is of the story is well covered, well balanced, and details all that is needed to be known about football in the 1960s. I would 100% recommend this book, not just to any football fan but to anybody who wants a nostalgic trip back to a time when life was full of endless possibilities. Good work!

The author clearly knows his subjects and his opinion is valued, but even more so when backed up with contributions from ex teammates such as Wilf McGuiness, David Sadler, and Jimmy Ryan. If you are over sixty years old and fancy a trip down memory lane, or if you are younger and wonder what all the fuss was about, I would say that Brendon McGuire has it covered with this book. The reason this books beats the many others that have been written about Best, Law, and Charlton is because it’s a story about what life was actually like back then during this fabulous period, so in that sense it’s as much a story of the culture of the time as it is a fascinating insight into three of the greatest players the game has known.
