There's a really skilful blend of traditional storytelling, drawing from myth and legend, and epic cinematic action. The songs are excellent too, which is just as well – parents are going to be hearing them A LOT when Moana takes its place as a firm family favourite! Seriously, the animation is first rate. The rest of the characters are voiced as they come in and out of the story.

Dwayne Johnson is perfect as Maui. really happy Better still, there's hardly a whiff of talent-show grandstanding about them, they're just great numbers performed brilliantly. There are some scenes that might be a bit scary for very young viewers, such as a battle with the gigantic lava monster Te Ka, but this is a movie that can be enjoyed by anyone, girls and boys, young and old alike.

With this and Disney's other recent release, the fantastic Zootopia, the House of Mouse is really leaving other animation studios trailing in its wake. Well packed . Totally amazing, Moana deserves to be embraced as an instant Disney classic. Disney's Moana is a beautiful, tranquil envisioning of adventure, laughter and whole-hearted family-fun.

I guarantee you won't have seen a more beautiful animated movie, from the island landscapes, teeming with life and awash with colour, to the underwater lair of giant crab Tamatoa (Flight of the Conchords' hilarious Jemaine Clement on top form). . Character designs are nicely done as well.

Dwayne Johnson and Auli'i Cravalho fill the voices of Maui and Moana respectively. Moana satisfies visually with its color and high caliber graphics to lead the way. He's funny and brash and completely likeable.
