Im such big kid even tho im 50 told my son i would love a copy of hardback so he bought me it with other gifts. I'd heard a colleague reading another of Ben Miller's books (The day I fell into a fairytale) to her class at school and thought it sounded brilliant.
My youngest usually has no patience for stories and it's a battle to get her to sit still long enough to ready but she is now rushing to get ready for bed and begging for another chapter each night. Decided to start with this one and it's become our bedtime story book, I read a chapter. I have to say as well, the illustrations in this book are just incredible, we love when there's a picture page and stop reading to pour over the details before we continue.
I cannot recommend this book highly enough, we are just over halfway through and I'm already hating the fact that the book will end. I love all books related to Christmas, my fav book is Christmas Carol coloured hardback picture book but this book is up there too, which i will read time after time. We are enjoying the similarities to another classic Christmas story as well but it doesn't feel like a copycat story, it's completely its own story.
My eldest has made a few predictions as we've gone through and has enjoyed being right, or sometimes wrong about things. .
Came to buy that one and ended up with a whole Ben Miller collection. It really keeps you wanting to know more and the story is fun and engaging. It's such an incredible touch.
