This is a special book and I know it will remain in our family for years to come. My daughter is engrossed in the book and we have talked about a mothers love for a child and how Maria’s mother would do anything to protect her children. Each of the pictures feels so fun and lovely and I love how all of the characters look.

It’s also just a really great story and one which I will want to read again! This is such a lovely and interesting story. We married here 10 years ago and after reading The Island back then and returning for our 10th Anniversary with our 9 year old I had looked for something that I could share with her to make her trip as memorable as it was for me. When we arrived my parents were already here and mum had found a signed copy of this book in a shop here and bought it for my daughter (this overwhelmed me and I couldn’t wait for us to share the story).

There are even some double page images which look amazing and I love how there are some details to spot.
